Iain Jennings -

Iain
has had a strong musical background from the age of three when he
had his first piano lesson. His interest developed at secondary
school where he formed several bands and began songwriting.
After school Iain studied at the City of Leeds College of Music for
two years. It was here that he explored Baroque, Classical and Jazz
harmony and received the Director's award for General Musicianship.
He sang in the Leeds Chamber Choir, Leeds Choral Society and played
trombone for various orchestras, concert, brass and big bands. Iain
achieved a distinction at grade 8 theory and electro-acoustics at
Huddersfield University. He studied contemporary harmony, arranging
and conducting techniques whilst he was there, before doing a PGCE
at the University College of Ripon and York St John.
Throughout this time he played keyboards extensively and wrote for
numerous bands. Iain is now a full time lecturer in Popular Music at
Hull College.

Iain came to play for Mostly Autumn in 1997 when he stood in
temporarily, and has been with them ever since. On the first album
"For all we shared." Iain co-wrote "Porcupine Rain" with Bryan and
Heather, also helping with the arrangement of "Folklore" and
"Boundless Ocean".
Then on the second album "The Spirit of Autumn Past" he wrote "The
Gap is too Wide" in memory of his mother who died of cancer in
February 1999. This piece of music features his mother's choir, Troy
Donockly on pipes and Marissa Claughn on cello. Iain also wrote Part
I of The Spirit of Autumn Past", an instrumental piece which
stimulated Bryan into writing the album title track, and he also
co-wrote
